A contemporary musical journey through Neolithic Sites of the Maltese Islands,
featuring unique on-site recordings
"The improvisational and instrumental delights of Malta’s music master, Renzo Spiteri, are steeped in a creative and groundbreaking pool of talent rarely observed in instrumental world music. The lack of vocals do not deter from the musical messages of solitude, grace, spirit, and meditation. The instrumental music created from relatively few instruments is most remarkable.
Renzo serves up a chilling, mysterious, and forward-thinking musical journey that deserves to be a top spot on the world music/new age charts. Silence Sounds and Spaces echoes similarities with the musical inventions of Robert Rich or Steve Roach, but in the end, it is Renzo Spiteri that turns history into music."
Silence, Sounds and Spaces is Renzo Spiteri’s new concept album that defines his creative journey across a selection of the most prominent archaeological sites spread across the Maltese Islands, encompassing music inspired by these sites and exploiting some of their unique natural sonic timbre.
The result is an engaging music creation that draws listeners in to Renzo’s personal musical universe. Through the use of his extraordinary world of sounds, Renzo conjures powerful images of these stunning historic sites where time stands still.
"Silence Sounds and Spaces is about creating a painting in notes and sounds through a transparent and simple score. My music is becoming more of a soundtrack... it's about building music that people will enjoy listening to, where the melodic aspect comes to the forefront. The music is a tapestry of sounds overlaying each other, weaving ideas together."Renzo Spiteri, 2011
SILENCE SOUNDS AND SPACES was composed, performed and produced by Renzo using the most diverse set-up of instruments from around the world and invented instrumentation. The album also features unique on-site recordings at the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, Hagar Qim and Ghar Dalam.
This project is the follow-up to the scoring of the music to the visitors' audio guide of the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) for which Renzo was commissioned by Heritage Malta (the Maltese National Agency for Museums, Conservation Practice and Cultural Heritage) in 2007.

INKONTRI (2010)
Genre: CONTEMPORARY & MALTESE POETRY
INKONTRI is cross-artistic project that presents Maltese poetry in an innovative and distinctive manner by merging two of the most familiar forms of artistic expression – music and literature.
A number of works from Joe Friggieri’s collection of poems were carefully selected to reflect a few aspects of Maltese culture, clearly depicting everyday life and characters that most commonly identify Maltese society on an individual and collective manner.
The music was specifically composed and performed by Renzo Spiteri, each musical piece deriving its influences from the particular text in each poem, portraying a contemporary setting for the culture being so aptly described and illustrated by the poem.

This Is My Language (2005)
Genre: CONTEMPORARY | INSTRUMENTAL
“He never ceased to mesmerise with the sheer inventiveness, rhythmic diversity and exploitation of resources that one does not normally think of."
AGS, The Times of Malta
THIS IS MY LANGUAGE is the result of a thrilling thought that I've had to share the stage solely with my instruments and let them be the vehicle of my emotions and feelings. The abstractness of certain percussive sounds, and their sonic combination, the experiences drawn from visiting different cultures and the colours and sounds of the Mediterranean are the vocabulary that makes each piece and every performance a personal statement, an inner voyage. Each 'sketch' is untitled, like an abstract painting, there to be perceived by every individual.
